EKOS Corporation is a medical device company that has developed a proprietary ultrasound-enhanced catheter designed to improve the performance of therapeutic drugs used to treat ischemic strokes and vascular occlusions. These symptoms occur when thrombus clogs blood vessels in brain or body and blood flow stops. Since removal of thrombus and recovering blood flow solves the problem, thrombolytic agent is used in thrombolytic therapy. However, often times, this is not enough to completely dissolve intertwined thrombolytic, and a new therapeutic method is desired. At Ekos, ultrasound-enhanced catheter is developed to significantly improve the ability of thrombolytic agent.
