RGB Networks’ Broadcast Network Processor Shortlisted
for IPTV World Series Award
BNP Continues Momentum with Global Video Delivery Operators
London, United Kingdom – February 24, 2009—RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, today announced that it has been shortlisted for the Best Cable IPTV Technology award at the IPTV World Series Awards for its Broadcast Network Processor (BNP).
The IPTV World Series Awards recognize the outstanding technologies developed for telecoms video services and reflect the full IPTV ecosystem. The awards will be presented at a ceremony held in London on Wednesday 25th March, the opening day of the IPTV World Forum, held at Olympia (25th 27th March). The Best Cable IPTV category recognizes technology and service solutions that help cable operators deliver IP video services over traditional hybrid fibre-coax (HFC) infrastructure.
“I am delighted that our Broadcast Network Processor has been recognized by the judges of the IPTV World Series Awards,” says Ramin Farassat, Vice President, Product Marketing, RGB Networks. “We continue to gain customer wins for the BNP in Europe and around the world due to its high video quality and flexibility in addition to increasing operator efficiency through high-density stream processing, it also opens up new revenues through a simple yet powerful approach to targeted advertising.”
RGB’s Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) is the industry’s most advanced digital video processing solution, enabling cable operators and other video service providers to deliver highly targeted and personalized video services. Housed in a one rack-unit platform, the BNP’s unprecedented stream processing density allows operators to perform digital video grooming, statistical multiplexing, transrating, digital ad insertion and digital overlays simultaneously on more than 500 streams. The BNP dramatically reduces the cost of delivering advanced digital video services, simplifies operation and management, and reduces operational and capital costs while creating new sources of revenue. Deployed by large and small operators throughout the U.S., Canada, Latin America and Europe, the BNP has been consistently noted for its superior video quality.
The BNP is ideally suited for a variety of applications in the digital video environment, including:
- Standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) digital broadcast grooming, transrating and statistical multiplexing
- Targeted advertising
- Digital overlay insertion
- Digital program switching and substitution
